Issues & Platform

5th generation Jackson County resident & full-time farmer

Community values

Economic equanimity

Infrastructure support

Sustainable land-use planning strategies

Environmental responsibility

Community

“I am very much aware of the challenges facing working people in this county. I want to support our kids (who are our future), our senior citizens (who have paid their dues and deserve our support), and our law enforcement, fire departments, and emergency management personnel (the demands placed upon them are ever-increasing). I want to support our school teachers and county employees (whose work is often overlooked and underpaid).”

Growth & Development

“I feel that Jackson County is at a critical crossroads as we face many growth-related issues. I know that property rights issues are important to the citizens of this county, and I AM NOT AN ADVOCATE FOR COUNTY WIDE ZONING! That said, I do believe that we need to look at more land-use planning from the standpoint of protecting our homes and homeplaces from unchecked development. It is important to our future and our quality of life to take a hard look at options such as steep slope development, ridge laws, and sediment control in terms of regulations.”

Environment & Natural Resources

“Rapid growth and development are creating many problems concerning the desecration of our natural resources. Having lived a lifetime close to the land, I have seen and experienced this first hand. Increasing land values are increasing the burden on full-time residents who wish to stay on their land and not ‘sell out’, while more and more pressure is being placed on the county to provide services and infrastructure for various needs. My question is: Is Jackson County headed in a sustainable direction? And this question needs to be faced, head-on, by the next Board of Commissioners!
